ODU E-MAIL PROTECTED WITH NEW SPAM TRAP CHANGES
Changes are being made to Spam Trap, Old Dominion University Spam-e-mail-blocking program.
Changes already made include adding several new Spam Trap levels. Many options now include rejecting Spam that scores at various levels AND tagging spam that is below that level.
Changes Being Made on Sunday, Aug. 7 include changing Spam Trap to an 'Opt-In' by default policy. It will cover all "@odu.edu" e-mail addresses unless the user has logged into Spam Trap and selected the 'Opt-Out' option. This default 'Opt-In' level will only reject mail from forged e-mail addresses and mail that contains a virus.
The Spam Trap Expert Interface will also be available. This gives much greater control over spam filtering. It adds features like white list, black list and more. It is more feature-rich and also a little more complex than the simple interface options. For more information about Spam Trap, see the web page at http://occs.odu.edu/accounts/spamtrap/.
