ODU TO HOST MARITIME CARGO SECURITY LEGISLATION PANEL AT NAUTICUS
Old Dominion University's International Maritime, Ports and Logistics Management Institute and the Hampton Roads chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) will host a panel discussion from 7:45 - 9:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4. The event, which will be held at Nauticus in downtown Norfolk, will cover pending maritime cargo security legislation, including security bills and regulations.
Speakers include representatives from the congressional offices of Rep. Dan Lungren, Rep. Loretta Sanchez and Sen. Joseph Lieberman.
The Maritime Institute serves as a point of coordination between the port community and other maritime research activities at the university. Old Dominion offers an undergraduate degree in maritime and supply chain management as well as a graduate certificate program, which provides specialization in shipping, ports and logistics management.
OWIT, an organization for those involved in international trade and commerce, seeks to strengthen the region's international trade community by providing educational programs on timely issues, a global network of professional contacts and professional development initiatives.
