HIP-HOP CULTURE CAMPS CONTINUE AUG. 3 AT ODU
The world of hip-hop culture will be explained to local children during a series of one-day camps in the Hampton Roads area.
The group Elemental Renaissance will conduct the camps, titled "Children And Music Paired-up." Open to children ages 8-16, the camps cover the origins and elements of hip-hop through performances, positive interaction and informative presentations. The overall focus is on learning and having fun.
Camps are from 11 a.m. to noon. Dates and locations for the camps are:
Wednesday, Aug. 3 -- Old Dominion University Webb Center
Thursday, Aug. 11 -- Citywide reading program at Norfolk's Huntersville Recreation Center
E.R. is composed of volunteer writers, artists and others who have a desire to express the knowledge of hip-hop culture and seeks to educate young people on the culture as well as entertain them.
The programs are sponsored by Old Dominion University, Norfolk Parks and Leisure Services, and Elemental Renaissance.
