TONIGHT'S SOCK HOP CELEBRATES THE END OF THE ODU FIELD HOUSE
Old Dominion University will celebrate the last night of the Field House from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28. The facility was home to the Monarch and Lady Monarch basketball before the Ted Constant Convocation Center was constructed.
The evening will feature a cash bar, complimentary diner style food, costume contest, dancing, door prizes, limbo, antique cars and special activities for children.
The Health and Physical Education Building will be demolished to make way for a $16.5 million, state-of-the-art recreation center and an eight-court indoor tennis center. The recreation center will feature everything from a rock-climbing wall to an indoor track, racquetball courts, pool and snack bar. The tennis facility will have a pro shop, lounge and elevated spectator area as well as locker facilities for ODU's tennis team.
