Senior righthander James Burok has been selected by the Colorado Rockies in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday.

Burok was 3-6 this year with a 4.73 earned run average. The senior co-captain ranked second In the CAA in saves with six, fanning 54 batters in 51.1 innings of work.
He made 24 appearances in 2005.

Last week, he was selected to the second team ESPN The Magazine/COSIDA Academic All-American squad. Burok graduated with a 3.95 grade point average in finance. Burok was also the recipient of the ODU Jack Wilkins/James Howard Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Burok was the CAA Pitcher of the Week in February after beating Virginia in relief and picking up saves against Richmond and Coppin State. He fanned a career-high ten batters in a nine inning relief appearance against UMBC.
