The Old Dominion University Coalition of Black Faculty and Administrators presented its annual Distinguished Service Award to Betty Diamond, director of financial aid, and its Award for Excellence to Edward L. Hamm Jr., former rector of the university's Board of Visitors and president of E.L. Hamm Associates.

The group also presented scholarships to Hugo Morrison, a junior communication major who holds a 2.90 grade point average, and Crystal Walden, a freshman electrical engineering major who holds a 3.95 grade point average.

In addition, CBFA honored one of its members, Sydney Perry, who retired from his position as an academic advisor in the counseling and advising services office. Perry worked at Old Dominion since 1983.
