KANNARKAT AND CANCADO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
Sophomore women's tennis player Mily Kannarkat of Virginia Beach and senior men's tennis player Alexandre Cancado were named first team GTE/ COSIDA Academic All-District. Both are now eligible for Academic All-American honors later this month.
Kannarkat, a biology/pre-med major carries a 3.93 grade-point average. She compiled a 14-5 singles record and 12-7 doubles record and is the highest-ranked American tennis player to play at Old Dominion. She earned second team All-CAA honors and first team Arthur Ashe Scholar selection.
Cancado, compiled a 15-5 singles record and 9-7 in doubles. He reached the third round of the ITA pre-qualifying tournament last fall and is a first team All-CAA tennis selection. Cancado carries a 3.93 grade point average in computer science.
