PRESIDENT TO DEDICATE MCCLELLAN PLAZA TODAY
The John W. and Jean L. McClellan Plaza, located on Monarch Way behind the Ted Constant Convocation Center, will be dedicated at a special ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 1.
Old Dominion University President Roseann Runte will preside over the ceremony honoring the pair, who were great supporters of the university.
John McClellan joined the Old Dominion staff in 1989 and worked as the planned giving officer for several years. During his tenure, he helped establish the fledgling planned giving program prior to the university's first capital campaign. Upon his death in 1998, Jean McClellan established a planned gift with the donation of property located throughout the city of Norfolk. Jean McClellan died in 2002. The pair are survived by their only son, John J. A. Crosse, who will speak at the dedication ceremony.
