The April 15 American Cancer Society Relay For Life event at Old Dominion University raised a total of $55,000 for cancer research and patient services, leaving nearly 100 volunteers and guests exhausted after walking more than 12 hours inside Webb University Center. A total of 70 teams of 10-15 people each participated in the weekend event.

The 6th annual event marked another record fundraising year, making ODU the leading college Relay For Life event in the region. Old Dominion University has been a constant supporter in the fight against cancer, rallying the campus each year in an event that honors cancer survivors and celebrates the memory of those we have lost to cancer.

Funds raised at Relay For Life will enable the American Cancer Society to support local services and resources for cancer patients and their families. Funds also support critical cancer research and community education programs designed to teach people how to reduce their risk of developing cancer.
