"101's: A Guide to Positive Discipline," a video training tool based on the research of Early Childhood Education Chair Katharine Kersey, has been named as a winner in the 2005 Videographer Awards.

The instructional video, produced by Old Dominion's Distance Learning office, was selected from 2,293 entries to receive an "Award of Distinction" in the Multi-Media/Interactive CD-ROM/DVD category and in the Educational Institution/Training category. According to the judges, the video exceeded "industry standards" to be among the winners.

The Videographer Awards is an international awards program directed by communications professionals to honor talented individuals and companies in the video production field. Entrants include video production companies, advertising and public relations firms, corporate communications departments, cable and broadcast television operations, government agencies and schools, independent producers and wedding and special event producers. Past winners have come from all 50 states and numerous countries.

"101's: A Guide to Positive Discipline" is a user-friendly training tool offering solutions to child care providers, teachers and parents to help children become happier, better equipped to settle differences peaceably and more self-directed. The 101's is available on CD-Rom, VHS and DVD. While each format stands alone, the sets are affordably priced to encourage an integrated approach combining the CD-ROM set for individual use and the VHS or DVD sets for groups.
