The Old Dominion University Alumni Association will have a tent on University Row at the Annual Virginia Gold Cup Steeplechase Races in The Plains, Va., on Saturday, May 3. All Old Dominion alumni and their guests are invited to attend.

The annual running of the Virginia Gold Cup has been a spring tradition in the Washington, D.C., area since 1922. The event is highlighted by seven steeplechase races, as well as pony and Jack Russell Terrier races.

The Old Dominion Alumni Association will have a tent on University Row, joining alumni groups from several other Virginia colleges and universities, including the University of Virginia, William & Mary and James Madison, as well as schools from many other states.

Old Dominion participants will board a charter bus the morning of the event in Ballston that will tranport them to The Plains for the event. The bus will bring participants back to Ballston at the conclusion of the races.

Cost per person for the event is $65 (payable to Old Dominion University) and includes catered buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, event ticket and bus transportation from Ballston to The Plains. An additional $20 per person fee (cash only) may be paid to the Meadow Outdoor Foundation on the day of the event for an open bar pass.

Pre-registration for this event is required. For more information or to register, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (757) 683-3097, toll-free at (888) ODU-3435 or by e-mail at rdalby@odu.edu. Additional information is available online at http://alumni.odu.edu/goldcup.htm.
