Old Dominion University's English Language Center is looking for volunteers to serve as conversation partners beginning in late June for visiting students from Russia and several former Russian republics.

Volunteers will be assigned to students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in a program designed to give an introduction to American culture and the American education system. At the end of the summer, these students will go to universities across the United States to conduct graduate-level studies in the fields of law, public health, education and public policy.

Volunteers -- faculty, staff, students and others -- would spend two hours a week for five weeks interacting with these international students. Volunteers also receive a small stipend.
