"Family Literacy: Organizations Working together for a Unified Approach" is the title of a May 3 summit that will look at literacy from the perspective of workforce development.

Sponsored by Opportunity Inc. in cooperation with the Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education, Norfolk Literacy Partnership and WHRO, the one-day summit will seek to foster greater cooperation among agencies and organizations that currently provide services to those in need of literacy support. The goal is to develop greater efficiencies in light of limited funds available at the federal, state and local levels in support of literacy. The summit will seek ways to increase cooperation, and eliminate duplication of services, wasted resources and nonproductive competition for external funds from the same funding sources.

The summit will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select - Norfolk Airport.

The cost is $35, which includes all conference materials, summit notebook, continental breakfast and lunch.
