RESERVATIONS DUE SOON FOR HACE ANNUAL LUNCHEON; JOHN ADAM IS GUEST SPEAKER

Tuesday, May 3, is the deadline to register for the Hourly and Classified Employees Association 29th annual luncheon. John A. Adam, University Professor of Mathematics, will be the guest speaker for the May 10 program. His talk is titled "Patterns Around Us - Life at the Base of the Atmosphere."

Adam, known for his entertaining talks, is the author of the book "Mathematics in Nature: Modeling Patterns in the Natural World," which was published by Princeton University Press in 2003.

Fliers announcing the luncheon and including a reservation form have been distributed via campus mail. The luncheon, which will also feature the presentation of the 2005 HACE Rookie and Staff Member of the Year awards and the installation of officers for 2005-06, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Hampton/Newport News Room of Webb Center.

The cost of the luncheon is $15 for new members ($10 for the lunch plus $5 for annual membership dues) and $13 for current HACE members ($8 for the lunch plus $5 for membership renewal). The cost for the luncheon only is $10.

Registration forms and checks, made out to HACE, should be sent to HACE treasurer Lynda Shirk in 219 Koch Hall. To obtain a form, call Shirk at 683-3131.
