The Virginia Sports Information Association recently honored Old Dominion University junior Alex Loughton and coach Blaine Taylor. Loughton was named the State Player of the Year and Taylor received Coach of The Year honors.

Loughton, a 6-9 forward, was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and the CAA Tournament MVP. He also received the Richmond Times-Dispatch State Player of the Year honor. Loughton averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season, leading the Monarchs to their first CAA Championship since 1997.

Taylor led the Monarchs to a 28-6 overall record, 15-3 in the CAA. ODU won the CAA regular-season and tournament titles, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Taylor was named this season's CAA Coach of the Year.

ODU's junior guard Isiah Hunter received honorable mention honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
