Mark A. Brice of Virginia Beach, who worked at Old Dominion for more than two decades and retired March 31, 2004, died April 9, 2005. He was 49.

A native of Portsmouth and a U.S. Army veteran, Brice was ODU's warehouse supervisor at the time of his retirement, a position he had held since 1992. He joined the university in 1981 as an hourly employee in the Mail Center and became classified as a storekeeper foreman the following year. He was promoted to storekeeper supervisor B in 1991.

For many years, he dressed up as Santa Claus for the "Spirit of the Holidays" party sponsored by ODU's Hourly and Classified Employees Association.

Survivors include his mother, Elmira S. Brice of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Cora L. Franklin, Allene Brice Drumgoole of Virginia Beach and Karen Everett of Richmond; three brothers, Allen Brice Jr. of Norfolk, Timothy Brice of Richmond and Eric Brice of Portsmouth.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Faith Fellowship Community Baptist Church, 708 Broad St., Portsmouth. Entombment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, is in charge. Viewing began at noon Wednesday, April 13.
