"EVEN SUPERWOMEN STRUGGLE" TO HONOR MEMORY OF CUCCHIARI-LORING
The Old Dominion University Women's Center continues its observance of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month Tuesday, April 17, with "Even Superwomen Struggle: Knowing When a Relationship Is Healthy."
The event, which is sponsored by the Women's Center, ODU's Counseling Services and the Samaritan House, will be held in honor of Claire Cucchiari-Loring, an ODU student who was alledgedly killed by her estranged boyfriend in December. Free and open to the public, it will begin at 7 p.m. in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.
Celebrating Cucchiari-Loring's musical talent, the program will feature a tribute and poetry reading by Renee Olander, director of the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center. It will conclude with a discussion about healthy relationships.
"Sexual Assault and the System," a program that will address danger signs, safety tips for students and the role of the criminal justice system in serving sexual assault victims, will also be held Tuesday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Chesapeake/Portsmouth Room in Webb Center.
