STUDENT SENATOR ELECTED TREASURER OF VSLA
Old Dominion University Student Senator Larry W. Woods, a junior information technology major from Virginia Beach, was elected treasurer of the Virginia Student Leadership Alliance (VSLA), an organization composed of members of student government associations at colleges and universities throughout the state.
Serving for a one-year term as the VSLA's first treasurer, Woods will manage the budget and authorize expenditures on behalf of the alliance. He is currently Old Dominion's only student government official serving in the leadership of the VSLA. Student Body President Mike Arendall's term as VSLA vice chairman ended earlier this month at the VSLA conference. Arendall will serve as the VSLA's parliamentarian during the next year.
Woods serves on the Student Senate Academic Affairs Committee. During his term on the Senate, Woods has fought to remove the firewall blocking access to Napster and has spearheaded the investigation of potential changes to the grading scale. Additionally, earlier this year he coordinated the Student Senate homecoming float design and construction as chairman of the Senate Float Committee. His was selected as Student Senator of the Month in December 2000 and as Student Senator of the Semester for fall 2000.
Woods will graduate from Old Dominion in December 2002.
