LOUGHTON EARNS CAA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD
Old Dominion University junior forward Alex Loughton recently received the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) Scholar-Athlete Award for men's basketball.
Loughton, who was also selected to the NACDA I-AAA Scholar-Athlete team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District honor, led the Monarchs to their first CAA Tournament title since 1997. The business marketing major, averaged 14.1 points per game, and finished the season second in the conference, averaging 8.2 rebounds.
The CAA honors one scholar-athlete in each one of its 21 sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and have a minimum grade point average of 3.20. The sports information directors at each CAA institution then vote for the winners.
