The Old Dominion University Women's Center will observe National Sexual Assault Awareness Month during April, with a commemorative event and a series of lectures about abuse within personal relationships.

On Tuesday, April 17, the Women's Center, along with ODU's Counseling Services and the Samaritan House, will present "Even Superwomen Struggle: Knowing When a Relationship Is Healthy," in honor of Claire Cucchiari-Loring, an ODU student who was murdered in December. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 7 p.m. in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Celebrating Cucchiari-Loring's musical talent, the program will feature a tribute and poetry reading by Renee Olander, director of the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center. It will conclude with a discussion about healthy relationships.
