NURSING STUDENT PLACES FIRST IN WOMEN'S DIVISION AT SHAMROCK MARATHON
Renee High, a nursing student at Old Dominion University, was the top finisher among women in the 34th annual Shamrock Marathon, which was held Saturday, March 18, in Virginia Beach.
High completed the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 27.4 seconds. She earned $1,000 for winning the women's division and an additional $150 for running an Olympic Trials marathon qualifying time.
"I was hoping to run somewhere between 2:50 and 2:55," said High, who finished 15th overall.
This was High's third marathon. In her first marathon last year, she finished fourth in a time of 3:06:22.
