Lyric baritone Walter Swan, visiting assistant professor of music at Old Dominion University, will give a faculty recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, in Chandler Recital Hall of ODU's Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. He will perform works by Giuseppe Sarti, J.S. Bach, Donizetti, Poulenc, Fauré, Strauss, Leslie Adams, Charles Lloyd Jr. and Moses Hogan. The recital is free and open to the public.

Swan has received warm receptions as a recitalist and oratorio singer throughout the Southern, Midwestern and Eastern regions. Audiences have been captivated by his lyrical yet silky, vocal timbre. Drawn to his sensitivity to musical structures and details, Leontyne Price has said that he "sings like a prince" and Charles Reicker, former artistic director with the New York Metropolitan Opera, once described him as "a warm baritone with the total package."

The Diehn Center is located on the corner of 49th Street and Elkhorn Avenue. For more information call 683-4061.
