Schoolchildren from the Peninsula and South Hampton Roads will converge on Old Dominion University's Norfolk campus for the 54th annual Tidewater Science Fair Saturday, March 12.

Opening ceremonies will be at 8:30 a.m. in the North Cafeteria of Webb University Center. Awards will be distributed at 1:30 p.m. in the same location. Student displays are open to the public from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Students will show off projects in subjects including chemistry and computer science and judges in the 15 categories and a wide variety of professional organizations, including the American Chemical Society, will present awards.

A panel discussion on preparing for college, featuring students and representatives from ODU, will be at 9 a.m.

All senior-division first-, second- and third-place winners advance to the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair at Randolph-Macon College in April.
