The Old Dominion University Department of Aerospace Engineering will host a discussion on modeling and simulation featuring Roland R. Mielke, interim executive director of ODU's Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC), at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in room 1310 of the Engineering and Computational Sciences Building. It is free and open to the public.

Mielke will address current modeling and simulation activity from the perspective of VMASC, as well as modeling and simulation in the region. His talk will include an overview of research and educational activities at the center and a look at new developments in the field.

Since its founding in 1997, VMASC has been an integral part of a Hampton Roads modeling, simulation and visualization cluster of industry, government and academic entities focused on military and commercial applications. Many of the applications involve training, experimentation and decision making under realistic simulated conditions. Others involve testing of strategies and equipment.
