Old Dominion University will co-host a nationwide energy teleconference, titled "Industrial Efficiency Initiative: Save Energy, Maximize Profits," from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in room 202 of the Gornto TELETECHNET Center.

Broadcast from Portland, Ore., the teleconference will focus on proven strategies, innovative technologies and techniques for businesses to reduce energy costs and increase productivity.

The conference, held in conjunction with the Northwest Food Processors Association and other entities, will be geared to the manufacturing sector, particularly the food processing industry. The projected audience of more than 1,000 people will include operations managers, energy managers, engineers and government agency representatives.

Experts from leading companies will share their tips for saving energy and reducing costs. Featured speakers include: Al Halverson, Frito Lay group manager for energy/utilities; Glen Lewis, Del Monte Foods, energy and indirect procurement; Patrick Healy, Fetzer Vineyards environmental manager; David Hawk, J.R. Simplot Co., energy and natural resources; and Garrett Smith, president of COGENTECH Inc.
