ODU PUBLICATIONS WIN NATIONAL AWARDS
Two Old Dominion University publications were honored as part of the recent Admissions Advertising Awards, sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report, the national newspaper of admissions marketing.
ODU's admissions viewbook finished second among schools with 20,000 or more students. ODU's admissions poster was an honorable mention in the same classification.
This year, a record 2,200 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools in all 50 states and around the world. More information on the competition is available on the Web at http://www.hmrpublicationsgroup.com/amr_award_winners.htm
"I continue to be impressed by the national recognition we are receiving at Old Dominion University for many of our in-house publications," said John R. Broderick, vice president for institutional advancement. "It is a credit to our staffs in publications, university relations and admissions. The 'silver' award for our admissions book puts us in elite company since every college and university across the country produces a viewbook that it hopes will be recognized. In addition, the first place awards we won from the National Communicators Association this year for Quest (our research magazine) and our Year-in-Review show we are consistently producing excellent marketing materials at Old Dominion University."
The award is only the latest in a series of honors for ODU publications. Quest, Old Dominion's research magazine, won a Crystal Award of Excellence -- the highest honor awarded in any category -- in the 2004 Communicator Awards competition sponsored by the National Communicators Association of Arlington, Texas. In addition, three other university publications captured Awards of Distinction, the competition's second-highest honor: Old Dominion University magazine (the alumni magazine), Year in Review and the Japan Forum program brochure.
