RELAY ONLINE NEW FOR 2005

A new addition for the 2005 Relay for Life season is "Relay Online!", a new tool available to all Relay events in the Southside and Peninsula areas of Virginia.

Each event has their own custom Web site where planning team members, team captains and Relay participants can visit to get up-to-date event information, raise money online, check fundraising progress and find out more about the American Cancer Society. The "Relay Online!" philosophy is sign up, set up and send.

Step One--Sign up
1. Visit your event Web site: Old Dominion University: www.odurelay.com
2. Click "Sign up here" link on the left toolbar. If you are a team captain, chose "Start a team." If you are not a team captain, click "Join a team" and pick your team from the drop down menu. If your team is not on the drop down menu, contact your team captain about setting up your team online. Follow the menu prompts and complete all requested information. Create your username and password. A confirmation email will be sent to you.

Step Two--Set up.
1. Visit your event Web site
2. On the left menu bar, click "Enter my HQ"
3. Click the "My Webpage" tab.
3. Customize your personal page text, upload pictures, and more!
4. From here you can also get reports on your online fundraising progress by clicking the "Reports" and "Tools" tabs

Step Three--Send.
1. Visit your event website
2. On the left menu bar, click "Enter my HQ"
3. Click on the "Email" tab. Enter the names and email addresses of your friends, family, business associates, etc. that you would like to send a "Relay Online!" message to.
4. Pick which message you want to send to them. Choices include: "Please support my fight against cancer", "Join my team", "Thanks for your donation" and much more. Each message template is completely customizable and will be sent with the personal greeting you specify (ex. Dear Sally)
5. Repeat this step as often as you like. The more emails you send, the more money you will raise online.

Please take a moment to complete these three simple steps. These four events have already raised more than $4,000 in the short time they have been online. Please do your part by setting up your "Relay Online!" Every email you send gets us one click closer to the cure.
