OLD DOMINION PROFESSOR TESTIFIES BEFORE HOUSE COMMITTEE
Bryan Porter, assistant professor of psychology at Old Dominion University, testified Thursday before a Virginia House transportation subcommittee about his research on drivers' red-light-running behavior.
Porter also discussed the behavioral effectiveness of photo-red technology -- automatic cameras that take pictures of red-light-running vehicles.
The House Transportation Committee is considering bills expanding the use of photo enforcement for red-light running to localities not covered under current law. Porter was invited by those interested in such legislation since his research generally supports the technology's effectiveness.
