ODU TO HOST TOP H.S. SENIORS AT SCHOLARSHIP DAY FEB. 12
Old Dominion University will host its annual Scholarship Day Saturday, Feb. 12, for many of the best and brightest high school seniors in Hampton Roads.
Up to 350 admitted students for the 2005-06 school year will be on campus to compete for thousands of dollars in merit-based scholarship awards, ranging from one-time stipends of $2,000 to full four-year scholarships that cover tuition, housing and computer.
The students who will be competing for the awards have a combined minimum 3.4 high school grade point average and 1180 SAT score and/or are in the top 10 percent of their class.
As part of the competition, the students will be interviewed by faculty and write an essay. Scholarship awards will be based on the results of these exercises, as well as the students' academic qualifications, high school courses, leadership activities and letters of recommendation.
Following the half-day program, the students will be guests at an ODU men's basketball game.
