RETIREMENT CELEBRATION FOR STEVE JOHNSON SET FOR JAN. 30

The Office of International Programs will host a retirement celebration for Steve Johnson from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Hampton/Newport News Room of Webb University Center.

Johnson, who joined Old Dominion in 1995, has been a strong advocate for international education as director of the Office of Study Abroad. Under his leadership, the program has seen significant growth. Study abroad participation has increased from approximately 100 students to more than 250 students annually.

In collaboration with faculty across campus, Johnson has worked to develop short-term faculty-led programs, which offer more opportunities and options for students who want to study abroad

Before coming to ODU, Johnson served in the International Study & Travel Center at the University of Minnesota.
