GEEKS ON CALL CEO AT EXECUTIVE-IN-RESIDENCE SERIES TODAY
Richard Cole, chairman and CEO of Geeks On Call America Inc., will be guest speaker for Old Dominion University's Landmark Executive-in-Residence Series Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration, the series brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share firsthand experience with students. Cole will speak at 12:30 p.m. in room 1005 of Constant Hall. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Geeks On Call America is a mobile on-site computer solutions and repair company. In May 2005, Cole received the Hampton Roads Technology Council's High-Tech Entrepreneur Award.
Cole received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Oklahoma Baptist University and began a career in billboard advertising with Outdoor West. As president of the company, he developed a strong reputation as a corporate turnaround specialist.
Cole later served as president and CEO of American Outdoor Advertising, a division of Landmark Communications Inc., retiring in 1998. After a short period of retirement, Cole wanted to start his own venture. Frustrated with the concept of having to pack up his computer and take it to a shop for repair, he launched Geeks On Call in 1999. He began franchising the company in 2001 and currently has more than 300 franchises nationwide.
