Old Dominion University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society, has won a prestigious Outstanding Chapter award for 2002-03.

ODU's chapter, Nu Upsilon, has a history of innovative work and this award recognizes its excellence. Through the work of its local chapters, Sigma Tau Delta confers distinction upon undergraduates, graduates and faculty for high achievement in the various fields of English. As a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Sigma Tau Delta is aligned with 67 other honor societies whose primary purpose is to recognize and encourage academic excellence.

Joanne Scheibman, assistant professor of linguistics, is the faculty sponsor of Nu Upsilon.
