E-MAIL UNAVAILABLE THIS WEEKEND
As part of a multifaceted solution for managing the large volume of e-mail stored on the Lotus Notes e-mail servers, Old Dominion University's Office of Computing and Communications Services is implementing a new e-mail storage system with increased capacity.
This requires the transfer of all e-mail from the current system, a process that will take several hours to complete. We will conduct the transfer of e-mail beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, and continuing until noon on Sunday, Jan. 16. During this time period, access to faculty/staff e-mail will be unavailable, both from the Notes Client and from the web. Any delays will be posted to the OCCS website at www.odu.edu/occs, under the Alerts header.
This transfer was originally scheduled for January 1 and 2, however technical issues were encountered that prevented OCCS from completing the transfer at that time. When the issues occurred, we implemented our back out plan and moved back to the old system. It is imperative that the move to the new system be completed as soon as possible, as there are numerous academic systems contingent upon this project being completed. For this reason, the move cannot be postponed until Spring break.
