A tune by an Old Dominion University music faculty member was included in a collection of jazz holiday music compiled by National Public Radio.

John Toomey, associate professor of jazz studies and music technology at ODU, performed at an NPR concert Dec. 10 at the newly renovated Attucks Theatre featuring jazz giants like pianists Adam Birnbaum, Hiromi and Lynne Arriale and veteran Kenny Barron.

The same performers, minus Toomey, played the following night at The Kennedy Center Terrace Theater in Washington, D.C., and selections from the performances were aired on NPR Dec. 23.

Excerpts from the performances are available via streamed audio on the Web at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4236735. Toomey's piece, "Deck the Halls," is listed under "Web Extra: More Jazz" on the lefthand side.
