Short - Term Programs
|
Congratulations on your approval for study abroad and your decision to take this exciting step! We hope that you will have a wonderful and rewarding experience abroad. Below you will find information about short-term programs and some of the required forms that need to be turned into our office before you leave the U.S. The information provided on this page is not meant to be exhaustive. Always check with the program assistant to ensure that you have completed all the necessary steps/forms that are required for your study abroad experience.
Pre-departure Orientation and Classes All short-term programs will have at least one mandatory pre-departure orientation session (and in some cases several classes). These meetings are an essential part of the course/program and attendance is mandatory for all participants. We will contact you (via your ODU email account) once orientation and any other meetings for the course/program have been scheduled.
Payment of Program Fee Check with the Office of Study Abroad about how and when to pay your program fees.
Passport It is critical that you apply for a passport (if you do not already have one that will be valid for six months beyond your return date) as soon as you sign up for the program in order to obtain it in sufficient time to participate in the program and/or obtain any necessary visas. We need to have your name on our application form exactly as it appears in your passport (or will appear) because names on airilne tickets must match names as they appear in one's passport or you will not be allowed to travel internationally. For information on applying for a passport stop by our office or use the link to the State Department's website.
Health Insurance
Old Dominion University includes travel and health insurance for all participants on faculty-led programs. This is included in the cost of OSA faculty-led programs. Details about coverage and limitations can be found here. |
