An 18-year veteran photographer, Thomas is a member of the Virginia News Photographer Association. He has worked as the university photographer for Old Dominion University since 1993.

Thomas has had photos published in national, regional and local publications ranging from magazines to newspapers. His work has been published in National Geographic, Smithsonian magazine, Verizon, Racing Milestones, Washington Post, Chronicle of Higher Education, The Virginian-Pilot, Daily Press, Richmond Times and a host of books and other publications.

A native of Lynchburg, VA, Thomas is a graduate of Amherst County High School and Old Dominion University where he earned his bachelor's degree in speech communication with a minor in photography. He resides in Portsmouth, VA.
