Join Us as We Honor Our Nation's Heroes
Old Dominion University will observe Veteran's Day on Thursday, Nov. 8, with a short remembrance ceremony at the rain location in the North Mall of Webb University Center, beginning at 12:30 pm.
This annual commemoration has evolved into a most meaningful patriotic event, one of many throughout the country this week to honor military personnel who have protected our country's freedoms through service in the Armed Forces and, in nearly a million instances, made the ultimate sacrifice.
Our observance this year will feature remarks from America Luna, representing the ODU Student Veterans Association and Major General Peter C. Bayer, Jr., U.S. Army, Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategic Plans and Policy, at NATO's Allied Command-Transformation.
The ceremony will be held over student activity hour, providing the entire ODU community the opportunity to attend what is always a moving and colorful remembrance. Our participation in this event will underscore ODU's recent selection - for the fourth straight year - as one of the nation's Military Friendly Schools. This honor was bestowed by G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning to civilian life, and it goes to institutions that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.
Please observe a level of quiet decorum on the mall during the event.
I hope you can join us.
