A Letter to the ODU Campus
Dear Old Dominion University Community,
As most of you know, the Attorney General of Virginia wrote to Old Dominion and the other public colleges and universities in regards to our anti-discrimination policies. This afternoon, Governor McDonnell issued an Executive Directive that states that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated and civility, fair treatment, and mutual respect should be the standard of conduct expected in state employment.
At Old Dominion University, we are encouraged by the governor's response. We look forward to working with the administration to resolve any issues that may remain, and are pleased that we can return our focus to our primary mission of education.
It is important to note that Old Dominion University does not and will not discriminate, nor do we tolerate discrimination against anyone on our campus. ODU is a profoundly multicultural community that values individuality. This is inherent in everything we do and it will always remain as the foundation for all of our endeavors.
Sincerely yours,
John R. Broderick
President
