As a student, you are invited to use this web-based, academic advising tool. It identifies courses that fulfill requirements for your major and degree completion. It displays graduation requirements you've met already and those you've yet to complete. You can also generate 'What If' evaluations to see how courses you've already completed would be used if you changed majors. This is a very powerful tool that can help you achieve your academic goals on time in collaboration with your academic advisor. Check out ODU's YouTube channel for a video on the program.
Once logged into DegreeWorks, there are 3 tabs you can use. These are 'Worksheets', 'Planner',and 'GPA'. We'll go through each of these separately.
Click on the 'Worksheets' tab. You'll be presented with a drop-down menu for which format you'd like to view.
The 'Student View' format will display your student information, including your degree program, a graduation progress bar, which graduation requirements you've met, and which you need to complete.
The 'Registration Checklist' format displays a simple list of those requirements you've satisfied and those you have not.
Whichever format you choose, make sure to click 'View' to properly load the worksheet.
You can click 'Class History', which will display your enrollment history.
You can run a 'What If?' evaluation under the 'Worksheets' tab. This tool allows you to see your progress towards graduation if you change your major or minor.
Click 'What If?' and select whether you'd like the 'Student View' or the 'Registration Checklist'. Wait for the page to load.
Use the drop-down menus to select which level (ex. undergraduate), degree (ex.Bachelor of Arts), and catalog year (ex. 2009-2010) you'd like to investigate. Choose the year that you entered the University. Then you can edit your major, minor, and concentration.
Click 'Process What If'. A new graduation time line and list of criteria to meet will appear. Note: Running a 'What If?' evaluation does not formally change your major.
Click on the 'Planner' tab.
On the left-hand side, you'll see your student information, graduation progress bar, and list of requirements left to complete.
On the right-hand side, you can create a plan of which courses you'll take each semester.
You can drag and drop classes from the requirements into the planner.
You can add notes to share with your academic advisor.
Make sure to scroll down and save your plan, once finished.
There are 3 tools within the 'GPA Calculator' tab.
The graduation calculator estimates the average grade/GPA you need to earn in your remaining classes to achieve a desired GPA.
The term calculator estimates the impact of your expected grades in your current classes on your overall GPA.
The advice calculator estimates the number of credits you need to complete at certain grade levels to reach your desired GPA.
