Requesting Transcripts

How to Request Transcripts
Students and alumni may request official or unofficial transcripts of work completed at Old Dominion University by completing the Official Transcript Request Form (provided in "fillable" PDF format). This form can be completed online and printed, using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The data you enter cannot be saved with the form.

The form can also be obtained in the first floor lobby of Rollins Hall at the main campus, or by contacting your site director for a copy of the form.

NEW: Students can now request an official transcript by logging into the LEO Online secure website. A transcript fee of $5 per copy applies, and a credit card payment is required to complete your order. Federal Express and UPS expedited shipping are available for a $30 flat fee per address. Online requests are processed the next business day after your request is made. Students with financial holds will not be able to request a transcript via LEO Online.

You can also submit a written request, including required information, signature, and payment (see links at left), to:
Old Dominion University
Office of the University Registrar
ATTN: Transcripts
116 Rollins Hall
Norfolk, Virginia 23529-0053
(or fax your request to 757-683-5357).

NOTES:

  • Due to Federal privacy laws, a written or form request with the student's signature is required. We cannot fulfill e-mail or telephone requests for transcripts.
  • Transcripts for work at other institutions, including high schools, become the property of Old Dominion University and will not be released to third parties.
  • See Holds, at left, for information on holds that may prevent the student from obtaining an official or unofficial transcript.

Official Transcripts
Official transcripts are always mailed (or picked up by the requester) and are only official if in the sealed Old Dominion University envelope. Transcripts issued to the student or picked up at the Registrar's Office, will be stamped "Issued to Student." Allow 1-3 business days for routine processing.

If you have a special deadline, please indicate the date(s) on your request. For further information, or to check on the progress of a request, contact the Office of the University Registrar at 757-683-4425 or send an e-mail to transcripts@odu.edu.

The records of individuals who attended Old Dominion University prior to 1985 may not be computerized and additional time should be allowed for the creation of those records (this may take up to 10 business days).

Requests for expedited delivery are accepted; however, if the paper form is used, the student must provide a personal Federal Express account number (see the Federal Express web site to set up a personal FedEx account). The Transcript Request Form includes a place for this information.

Unofficial Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts are available on the secure web site at LEO Online (www.leoonline.odu.edu) and are intended for personal use only. On an exceptional basis, with written and signed request, an unofficial transcript can be faxed to a third party. An official transcript must be requested at the same time and will be mailed to the same third party.

To obtain an unofficial transcript:

  • log in to LEO Online secure area
  • select Admission, Registration, Student Records, Graduation Information, Credit Card Payments, and Financial Aid
  • select Student Records
  • select Academic Transcript

Records of students who attended Old Dominion University prior to 1985 may not be computerized and therefore may not be available from LEO Online.
