About

The Office of Research serves the university faculty and staff by providing administrative services to support the research enterprise. In addition, the Office provides an important interface with public and private members of the external community that have a vested interest in research.

The Office houses the institutional research officer and staff members who are able to leverage a breadth of experience, to convey quality services related to development of research programs, compliance in the conduct of research, intellectual property,  technology transfer, and governance issues related to sponsored programs.

Sponsored research administration services, encompassing the range of pre and post award grant and contract administration, are provided by the Old Dominion University Research Foundation.

During the Fall of 2011, an evaluation of the research administration and sponsored program infrastructure was conducted at the request of President John Broderick and Provost Carol Simpson.

The 2011 Research Infrastructure Review can be access by ODU Faculty and Staff with their Midas ID.  Reports from 2005, 1999, and 1987 are also available.
