AMOUNT_NOTE: Fellowship stipends range from $5,000 to $12,000 and are awarded in two equal payments. These fellowships fund academic and living expenses including tuition, fees, books, supplies and local transportation for the degree candidate. Fellowship funds may be used for dependent care if essential in facilitating the candidate's pursuit of her educational study or research. The fellowship year is July 1, through June 30. The fellowship year for Executive M.B.A. candidates ends on December 31.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be female U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans or other Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, or Pacific Islanders. There are no restrictions on an applicant's age or institution of study within the United States. Applicants must be full-time students at an accredited U.S. institution during the fellowship year, and should be pursuing a course of study over the full academic year. M.B.A. applicants must be students in a two-year or an Executive program (E.M.B.A.). Students pursuing an M.B.A., E.M.B.A., M.D., or D.O. may apply for any year of study. Students pursuing their J.D. may apply for second or third year of study. Applicants must not have received a Selected Professions Fellowship previously. Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate their intent to enter professional practice in disciplines in which women are underrepresented, to serve underserved populations and communities or to pursue public interest areas and to applicants who are nontraditional students.
AAUW members, AAUW Educational Foundation, and Association boards, committee, panels, task forces, staff, and current interns are not eligible to apply for Selected Professions Fellowships.

ABSTRACT: As part of the Selected Professions Fellowships Program, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation awards Focus Professions Group Fellowships to American women who have achieved high standards of academic excellence, show promise of distinction in their respective fields, and are from ethnic minority groups historically underrepresented within the United States in these designated disciplines: business administration (M.B.A., E.M.B.A.), law (J.D.), and medicine (M.D., D.O.). The fellow is expected to pursue a full-time course of study during the fellowship year. Fellowships support traditional classroom-based courses of study at colleges or universities. This fellowship program does not provide funding for distance learning programs or for degrees heavily dependent on distance learning components.

AMOUNT_NOTE: Six grants of $28,000 will be awarded. Applicants are required to (1) be enrolled in a qualified doctoral program at a U.S. university, (2) have completed all coursework for a Ph.D. by the time funding would start and have completed the appropriate examinations or qualifications to be considered A.B.D., and (3) have a dissertation advisor and committee. No affiliation with the CRR is necessary to apply.
Fellowship applicants are required to submit two letters of support for their dissertation proposal. One letter must be from the dissertation chair or academic advisor.

ABSTRACT: The Center for Retirement Research (CRR) at Boston College accepts proposals for the Dissertation Fellowship Program in Retirement Research. The annual program is funded by the U.S. Social Security Administration and provides funding opportunities for doctoral candidates to pursue exciting research on retirement income issues. Priority research areas include Social Security and retirement, macroeconomic analyses of Social Security, wealth and retirement income, program interactions, international research, and demographic research.
