Navy ROTC


Lieutenant Brian A. Ross, USN

Assistant Professor of Naval Science, received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and was commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 2005. He also received a Master's in Engineering with a focus in Operations Research from the University of Texas. After completing Nuclear Power Officer Training and Submarine Officer Basic Course, he served onboard the USS Montpelier in Norfolk, VA and completed numerous training missions and one overseas deployment.

Major Derek Emery, USMC

Marine Officer Instructor, received a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the University of Utah in 2000. He has served as the III Marine Expeditionary Force Adjutant, III MEF Headquarters Group S-1 Officer, 31st MEU Adjutant and Station Adjutant/Protocol Officer at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. Major Emery also served as an advisor to the Iraqi Ground Force Command Training section.

Commander Geoffrey Mones, USN

Associate Professor of Naval Science, is a 1990 NROTC Hampton Roads graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. His last assignment was Executive Officer at the Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit (CSCSU) Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, VA. While there, he completed a one-year Individual Augmentee (IA) tour in Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar as J1 for Joint Information Support Task Force (Special Operations) in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and New Dawn.
