Old Dominion University offers summer camp programs designed to educate and inspire youth in a variety of academic and extracurricular endeavors serving children in grades K-12. All of our camps provide children with the chance to unwind, explore and experiment, learn and grow, discover new ideas, and work cooperatively with others all while experiencing life on the Old Dominion University Campus.
We dedicate ourselves to providing you with the most outstanding summer experience - "summers that last a lifetime." All our programs have their own unique goals and atmosphere. Please review our information here online. We hope you will join us for a summer of fun, learning and adventure!
ODU offers four exciting camp series, choose from:
Big Blue Summer Camps
These fun and adventurous camps offer an exciting environment for the imagination to soar. Campers will explore amusing, thrilling presentations by Mad Science® of Hampton Roads. Imaginations will be sparked as campers experience spectacular science based shows. Campers can explore foggy dry ice storms, float on a Mad Science hovercraft, watch a foam factory at work, alter sound waves, and so much more! Weekly visits from ZooPro Adventures® will expose campers to native and exotic wildlife such as an African Serval, a Great Horned Owl, an American Alligator, and a Red Tailed Hawk! Abrakadoodle® will allow campers to explore their artistic talents through painting, drawing, sculpting, designing, and sketching using a wide variety of artist materials and techniques, all in an atmosphere of fun and success!

Summer Art Enrichment Program
The Art Education program at Old Dominion University is offering the ODU Summer Art Enrichment Program for children rising into grades 1-8. Classes are divided by age groups. Camp activities include experiences in a variety of art media such as: drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, fibers, printmaking, digital art, and on campus field trips.
Various Dates
Participants will bring a bag lunch and two snacks each day, and a smock on the first day.

Fashion Academy
This program is open to high school rising juniors, seniors and graduated seniors who love fashion. The Academy will provide the opportunity for students to explore college level activities in fashion merchandising within the areas of retailing, trend forecasting, fashion marketing, fashion history, psychology of dress and various careers within the industry. Camp activities will include incredible speakers from various fashion fields, real world exploration, hands on assignments, design projects, trend forecasting and off campus field trips.

12th Annual Summer Percussion Camp 2012
This is a week long day camp in which students in grades 8-12 will receive college level instruction on standard and exotic percussion instruments. As always this summer will include a portion of world instrument instruction on instruments students usually do not have an opportunity to experience. Our week culminates with a recital showcasing the week's work. Past performances have included African drums, steel drums, Latin American instruments, marching percussion, as well as standard percussion ensemble repertoire. In addition to all these, typically students prepare a fun, light hearted piece that may even incorporate some acting.

Choral Camp 2012
This is a week long day camp for third through fifth grade students. Beginning vocal techniques for the young singerfocus includes proper breathing, diction and vocal exercises as we sing choral repertoire with other young musicians from the Hampton Roads area. Our week culminates with a recital showcasing the week's work.

Middle School Band Camp 2012
For rising sixth grade students, the camp focuses on instrument assembly, instrument care, posture, proper holding and playing technique, sound production, and music reading skills. This is a beginner course. Campers should bring their instruments and be ready to learn. Rising seventh and eighth grade students will have numerous opportunities to develop your talents in an atmosphere of musical excellence with like- minded students from throughout the Hampton Roads area. Focuses for 7-8 grade students includes playing and music reading techniques through various types of music literature and fundamental warm up routines.

Math Summer Camp 2012
This camp is for uprising third grade students servicing the Virginia Department of Education math standards of learning. The camp will incorporate critical thinking and multi-level problem solving skills. Students will act out mathematical scenarios where they apply problem solving skills with real life situations. Mathematical skills that would be covered are multiplication, fractions, addition, subtraction, money, estimation and measurement.

Summer Dance Camp 2012
This is a week-long day camp in which camp students will receive professional dance instruction from the Virginia Beach Steppers. This camp will include instruction on a wide array of dance genres including waltz, tango, foxtrot, salsa, merengue, cha-cha, rumba, bachata, swing, Chicago style steppin, hip-hop & line dance. In this camp instructors will assist students in exploring different key elements of dance such as practicing, performing & competing.

Nano Engineering Camp
"Mommy, Daddy, how does that work?" Build your child's understanding of the everyday world around him/her. This one-day camp introduces 2nd through 5th graders to basic engineering principles through fun, hands-on activities. The morning is just for the kids but Mom or Dad can participate in the afternoon fun.

Engineers Rule!
6th, 7th and 8th grade "future engineers" will have a blast learning what engineering is all about. This exciting, week-long experience will build teamwork skills and electrify interest in engineering as a possible career. Hands-on activities engage students in mechanical, electrical, marine and civil engineering concepts, experiments and demonstrations. A bridge design contest and graduation ceremony on Friday will culminate this experience.

Gaming Camp
- Each day of the week-long Game Development Summer Camp starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM.
- Daily activities consist of interactive lectures given by ODU faculty, hands-on game development exercises and a game play session at the end of the day.
- Lunch will be provided.
- The preferred age group is 12 - 16.
- Campers need to take the Introductory Camp in order to attend the Intermediate Camp
- Registration is limited to 25 participants.

Robotics Camp
- The Robotics camp begins at 8:45 AM and ends at 4:00 PM.
- Daily activities consist of interactive lessons given by ODU faculty, robot construction, and various competitions or demonstrations.
- Lunch will be provided.
- Ages: 14 - 17 (8th - 11th grade); younger campers (to age 12) with prior robotics experience are welcome. Contact instructor for inquiries.
- Cost includes all hardware which students can take home at the completion of the camp.
