Mission
Old Dominion University's Regional Higher Education Centers (RHECs: ODU-Peninsula, ODU-Tri-Cities, ODU-Virginia Beach) serve as regional gateways to the University, providing accessible, high quality education in three convenient locations within greater Hampton Roads. Supporting high-demand and critical shortage professions with select graduate and undergraduate degree, certificate and continuing education programs offered in traditional, Distance Learning, and hybrid formats, the RHECs are service-centered, state-of-the-art academic facilities that offer resources to foster success and accelerate degree completion especially among commuter and transfer students. In addition, the RHECs support the university's strategic partnerships and community engagement initiatives, and also provide conference, training and professional development space for local school divisions, municipalities, businesses and nonprofits.
The Virginia Beach Center's location in the heart of the Princess Anne Commons district in the City of Virginia Beach makes it convenient for students transferring in pursuit of baccalaureate degrees, as well as for working adults to pursue professional development through graduate and undergraduate degree, certificate, and continuing education programs. GRADUATE degrees available include Doctor of Philosophy in English (Ph.D.) and master's degree programs in Nursing, Public Health, Business Administration, Education, Accounting, Engineering Management, and more. UNDERGRADUATE degrees available include Communication, Criminal Justice, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Teacher Preparation, Work and Professional Studies, and more.
Old Dominion University - Virginia Beach also serves as headquarters for the Institute for Learning in Retirement, a Virginia Tidewater Consortium-Educational Opportunity Center, and educational programming provided by Norfolk State University. In addition, the Center provides space as available to non-profit, corporate and business organizations and offers special events free and open to the public.
