International Education Week 2012: Emerging Issues in International Student and Scholar Exchange: Student Mobility, Cultural Diplomacy, and Cross-Border Educational Exchange
Emerging Issues in International Student and Scholar Exchange: Student Mobility, Cultural Diplomacy, and Cross-Border Educational Exchange.
Education Building, Room 150 | 12:15pm-1:50pm
A panel discussion on emerging issues related to international student and scholar exchange in American higher education. Comprehensive internationalization often involves initiatives to increase international student enrollment; form cross-border research partnerships; and increase scholarly exchange. These trends, however, raise serious issues for institutions and policymakers including how best to support international students; the need to protect proprietary research information and outcomes; and the strategic use of scholarly exchange for U.S. international diplomatic purposes. Light refreshments will be provided.
Presenters: Dr. Chris R. Glass, Christina Westmont, Andy Casiello, and Stephanie Buus
Sponsors: Higher Education Graduate Program and Office of Intercultural Relations.
