Euphonium

Experience, Passion, Drive, Motivation. What to all these words have in common? They’re all adjectives that describe Old Dominion University’s Community Music Academy instructors. All ODU CMA instructors are highly qualified individuals who not only posses the knowledge of the instrument, but also the passion for teaching it. MIKE HALL- TROMBONE/EUPHONIUM/BRASS CHOIR



Served as professor of trombone and member of the Kansas Brass Quintet at the University of Kansas 2000-2006, and at Eastern Michigan University 1995-2000 where he was lecturer of low brass and director of the EMU Jazz Ensemble. He also serves as Literature Reviews Editor for the International Trombone Association Journal. Dr. Hall has performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and China covering a large spectrum of styles. Some of his exploits include symphony orchestra performances, most recently with those of Virginia, Kansas City, Ann Arbor, and Detroit, chamber music performances around the country with the Galliard Brass Ensemble, and solo performances at festivals, universities and public schools. He premiered a new concerto for two trombones and orchestra by Vitaly Patzera with the Kharkiv Symphony Orchestra, Ukraine in 2004. He also has an extensive background in commercial music backing entertainers, playing in large and small group jazz settings, theater and recording. He has released two solo recordings, Arcangelo Corelli Solo Chamber Sonatas, Opus 5, and J.S. Bach: The Gamba Sonatas. Holding the rope at the top of his well are wife, Michelle, and children Rebekah, James and Wyatt. They rarely kick stones over the edge and always share the water!
