HYE-YUN CHUNG BENNETT—HARP, PIANO

Hye-Yin Chung Bennett is a noted area performer, recitalist and educator and made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1979, earning raves from the New York Times music critic. In 1973 she was a prize winner at the 5th International Harp Competition in Jerusalem. Her undergraduate degree is from Ewha Woman’s University, Seoul, Korea. Post-graduate studies include the Juilliard School, NY, Columbia University, NY, University of Arizona, and California State University at Los Angeles. In addition, she’s a featured performer, along with flutist Wayne Hedrick, on the Klavier Records’ release "Musical Colors," and she made her solo harp recording debut on "French Impressionist Harp Music," released by Centaur Records. Currently an adjunct faculty member of the Old Dominion University Community Music Academy, Bennet is also pianist at Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth. She is an active member of MTNA and a recent soloist with the Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra.
