Conducting Field Research

Purpose

We will progress our discussion to talking about conducting field research and writing up that research. You will also have the opportunity to have your research plan reviewed by your peers.

Discussion–Organizing Academic Writing

We will discuss the five paragraph essay, IMRAD, and other arrangement strategies.

Workshop–Conducting Research

Use the remaining class time to exchange your research plans and have them reviewed by your peers. As the person reviewing the plan, ask yourself whether you feel you could conduct this research based upon what is presented on the paper? If not, explain to your peer the details that you would need to conduct this research yourself. Also ask whether the design of the research will help your peer answer her/his research questions. If not, recommend to your peer strategies for staying focused on addressing her/his research questions.
