On this day we have finally arrived to London from our long 8-hour trip. We arrived by 7 in the morning and were immediately taken on a bus tour all around London. We were able to become introduced to the city and see all that it had to offer. Our tour guide, Nigel, was very informative and comedic at the same time. I chose to use the picture of the Tower Bridge because it has always been mistaken for the London Bridge. I also took a photo of the Nelson Mandela statue that we came across which I thought was a great sight to see. I was very pleased that they had a statue in honor of him.

One of the most memorable moments for me was the Portobello Market. The first photo shows the long road full of different boutiques and tents. They had a wide range of objects available for sale like Polaroid cameras, clothes, fresh foods, and jewelry. It was the most diverse market I had ever been to that offered authentic, quality materials. On this day I had also visited the British Museum. I was really interested in the Ancient Egypt exhibit and the African exhibit. I took a photo of a traditional Ethiopian dress that I thought was interesting and would not have expected to find in an exhibit.

My appreciation for theatre began to grow on this day as we visited Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the Victoria and Albert Museum. I was really amazed at the Globe theatre which is the first photo shown. It was amazing how they tried to instill the tradition of the original globe theatre and were able to maintain essence of focusing on the pure art of theatre. The second photo is of the Victoria and Albert Museum, which has a costume exhibit that held costumes of many famous plays. The picture shows the costumes that were used in the Lion King play.

I was very excited and anxious for this day because we traveled to the Warner Brothers Studio where we had a tour of the Harry Potter Experience. This tour shows you all of the costumes, scenery, designs, and characters that were used in the actual filming of Harry Potter. The first photo shows a picture of a street that was used in the filming. The second photo shows a model of the school that Harry Potter attended named Hogwarts. This was an amazing experience because we were able to learn about all of the detail that was put into the creation of these movies. It also made us appreciate the work of that was done behind the scenes to achieve the success that Harry Potter has gained.

We were able to receive a tour of the BBC studios, which I found to be very exciting. I was able to gain more knowledge of the history of BBC studios and it’s radio station. We had also visited the Royal Theatre of Drury Lane for a backstage tour of their theatre. The first photo shows a picture of the tunnel that is in the underground of the theatre where many of the performers use in between scenes. We also had the pleasure of watching the play War Horse that evening which was by far my favorite play.

On this day we had the opportunity to have a tour of the Nation Theatre where we saw the play War Horse. We had the opportunity to look at the different costumes and stage design areas that was in the backstage area of the theatre. The first photo shows the house that Jimi Hendrix had lived and died in. I am a fan of Jimi Hendrix’s work and was very excited to see his home. The second photo is a picture of the Les Miserables play, which we saw later that evening. It was a very touching play that I enjoyed thoroughly.

This would by far be considered my favorite day on the trip. We were able to take a two-hour ride to Stonehenge and Bath. The first photo is a shot of Stonehenge while the second is a photo of the Roman Bath. I was very interested in Stonehenge and the Roman Baths because they were very spiritual and historical sites. We saw the different statues and instruments that the Romans used at Bath. It was interesting to see how people lived during that day by looking at the live models and videos they offered at the Roman Baths. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these sites that many people rarely get a chance to see. I was very appreciative of this opportunity.

On our last day in London we were able to have a lot of free time. We had met in the afternoon for tea at the Nation Theatre. It was a great experience to have tea in such a sophisticated setting. They offered us our own choice of tea and a variety of finger foods. The first photo shows a picture of the changing of the guard. This was our only opportunity of actually watching the changing of the guard, which people crowd around to see every even day.  We had also gone on a canal ride down the Thames, which was a beautiful sight to see. The second photo shows a picture of me on the boat during the ride. This was a great way to end our trip to London.
